Still here

Just not playing the usual volume of tournaments that I do, and the ones that I have, I've been running terrible. I can't count the amount of times that I've had quality starting hands, only to be 2nd best.

Just have to play through it, although it's going slow.

I cashed!

The thing is, I never played a hand! I had earned these freerolls by winning some satellite's during FTOPS. I have not been playing much the last week, and was pretty busy this past weekend, and forgot that I had qualified for a bunch of these freerolls.

Not bad for not playing! Ship the quarter!

The Fulltilt Links Hand of the Day

What do I have ? ? ? What do I flipping have????

Bet you didn't know FullTilt put this 'play along' feature ala ESPN? Only they kicked it up a notch, as "I" as the player, get to guess along as well!!!

So look closely, I raised blind, got called, put in a pot bet ont he invisible flop, and TOOK IT DOWN!!! Who needs cards???

Double Tourney's

I've been dabling lately in the daily double tournaments. FT runs 3 sets daily, buyins are 6 for the early, 12 for the middle set and 75 for the late set.

Of particular note, is this:

The Triple Double

Wanna really score big? Then play for the Triple Double. Win all six of the Doubles tournaments in a single month and take home a $1 Million jackpot.

I doubt anyone has won this, but it would be a huge achievement if anyone ever does.

I had a final table in last nights B tournament of the middle set:

As is usually the case, here's how I got bounced:

Not a bad little cash, but obv dissapointed.

Action flops!

Again..even though this one I won, I didn't think much about...As far as I'm concerned, this is just "standard". But the banter in the chat was hilarious! Maybe I just got a big old scab but nothing ever surprises or get's a flinch out of me any more.

EDIT: Case in point....just laugh and move on. This one however was all in preflop:

Deep run in 50/50

The real story and lesson here isn't how I couldn't finish this one out, but that you should never give up. I never got any playable cards from the time we were down to about 4 tables, and was pretty much the shorty the entire way till I busted. I finally got pocket 8's and decided to go over the top of the original raiser, only to be showned Jacks. It was a no brainer for me, I was down 10 BB's and had to take chances. In fact, I had maintained life by pushing the likes of 83, q7, T3 & 22, getting called and doubling up. So I was on borrowed time.

But enough about me, that's not where the lesson I'm referring to resides. Check out this hand:

So this player CERMS after this hand, being at the 2k/4k with 500 ante level, was left with less than 1 BB.

Now take a look at the final results again above. Yup, he finished 4th, for a very cool payout of about 4K. Of course he was aided by going on the run of his life, in fact, the very next hand he was all in, and managed to triple up with KJ, and then doubled up the next hand after that winning a flip. Of course he was lucky, but we all know luck does play a part, and he rode that all the way to a nice pay day, after being down to the felt.

A great reminder to never give up! no matter how bleak it looks.

FTOPS #1 & thoughts on new Fulltilt Client

I played and won a $8 MTT Satellite into FTOPS #1, which played last night. They got 5600+ runners, which for a midweek late night tourney is pretty good. Sadly, I busted about 40 or so short of the $, when I overshoved AK over a very active Donk, who called with 44. He hit a set on the flop, so not even a sweat for me.

I left the tourney lobby open, as I noticed that at the time I went to bed, that MuckDucks who is already an FTOPS champ, and a Cardrunners instructor, was leading the tournament, and wanted to see how he did. He has a video on Cardrunners, where he replays his FTOPS win, I think a 4 part series. Certainly worth watching.

BTW - LJ posted a while back on how you can get free membership to both Cardrunners and SoxPoker by just enrolling here:

At any rate, when I checked the lobby, I noticed that they were five handed at the final table, so I fired it up, and the guys were in the midst of using the new 'Lets Make a Deal' feature.

And here's what they finally agreed to:

I think it's a great feature, and one that I neglected (luckily) to consider when I won the 14K earlier this week.

All in all, I'm quite happy with the features in this latest realease. I was pretty pissed that I had to do my own troubleshooting, as I had huge lag and crash problems. I found that in some cases, (and I don't know why, but this didn't happen on my desktop, just my laptop), the install program puts proxy/scripts in the Internet Lan Connections. Once I unchecked all the garbage, my client was back to working as usual. I still get the graphics issues, but they seem to have diminished.

I may have to put in for a job with them, if for no other reason than to manage their development group, and teach them a thing or two about proper Quality Control!

14K Winner!!!

Always nice to take one down:

Undoubtedly, this hand was crucial as it propeled me into the lead with about 20 players or so:

I had layed down AQ the previous hand to another all-in by GOSOX20, which I debated with, but ultimately folded. He/She had been getting frisky, and so it was an easy call with the Ladies. I was certainly not happy when Harley also shoved, but thankfully, I was ahead, and most importantly...HELD!!!!!
